Top 4 airports near London for cheap long haul flights

After you’ve put the finishing touches on your last Spring holiday for the season, it’s time to start planning a trip to a brand new place! Avoid falling into the lull before the summer holidays by booking your next adventure with these top 4 airports near London for cheap long haul flights!

Believe me, you’ll be happy to have an exciting trip to look forward to, without breaking the bank! If your next travel plans aren’t for a while, let this be your travel inspo for now.

Also, consider mixing it up a bit with your holiday planning and book a flight to a further destination. Normally, flights are categorised as short (30 mins-3 hours), medium (3-6 hours) and long-haul (>6 hours). There is also a special category of ULTRA long-haul flights with the longest currently being nearly 19 hours!

For this post, we’ll focus on long-haul flights. To find you some great prices on long-hauls, we’ll turn to Skyscanner and 4 of my go-to airports in and around London!

There are a few tricks to finding cheap long haul flights

If you haven’t already, check out my long and short guides to using Skyscanner. They’re most helpful in helping you find airline tickets at a competitive price!

For the sake of this post we’ll be using:

  1. Gatwick, Luton, Stansted and Heathrow as our departure airports
  2. “Everywhere” as the destination
  3. “Cheapest month” in the place of the departure and return dates

Of course you can use whichever airport you like for this cheap flight game but I’m often impressed at the variety of budget airlines at these 4 airports.

Please be aware that flight prices can change DAILY and will probably do so by the time I publish this post. Click on the relevant slide to be taken to Skyscanner’s website to see the most current listing.

First up, let’s have a look at what Gatwick has to offer!

For this particular search, flying from Gatwick seemed particularly affordable for flights to the US, Canada, the Caribbean and a few other countries

  • Skyscanner search from Gatwick to everywhere

The prices of flights from Luton were a bit higher but still good for cheap long haul flights

  • Skyscanner search Luton to everywhere

From Stansted you can fly to Martinique, Guadeloupe or India for under £400

  • Skyscanner search Stansted to everywhere

Think of any country…from Heathrow, you can probably fly there! Fly to United Arab Emirates, Puerto Rico or Thailand for under £300

  • Skyscanner search Heathrow to Everywhere

Spring has sprung! What are you waiting for? Plan your last Spring trip and then let’s get ready for summer holidays–a fantastic and affordable adventure awaits!
